FP1: New challengers at Sebring

Brumby set the fastest lap at Sebring, just hundredths ahead of Charlie Bebb. Cascardo couldn’t take part in a session that was deemed as driving on lava.

WTEC 2021. Sebring presented itself from it’s hot side to FBL’s drivers and teams in FP1. Uncomfortable 37° Celsius gave drivers a track that made them struggle for grip for the first part of the practice session, and the sprint race saw more Radicals spinning than we are used to in the FBL.

Nevertheless, Brumby (Gulf) set the fastest lap in these circumstances with a 1:55.301, making him seven hundredths clear of Bebb (Cambrian SimRacing). Already a second down had been Kapeller (Gulf) and Cuscino. A tight pack around 1:56.8 was formed by Gluscic (Marlboro), Renders (Racing Team Den Kaap Bronze) and Bremer (Martini).

But these lap times might just be history when the field gets on track for qualifying and race this sunday. Already yesterday’s sprint race saw the vast majority of the drivers getting to the low 1:56s, and wheather forecasts say the track won’t be that hot on raceday.

So everything is set for a tight race again, starting Sunday at 20:00 GMT at Sebring International.
